ADVERTISING
Why advertising matters—even when people can find you organically.
Paid media gives a business control over timing, audience and the offer being tested.

Reach a relevant buying moment
Organic visibility is valuable, but it does not guarantee that the right page will appear for every high-intent search. Google explains that Search campaigns can reach people actively looking for products or services, while keywords, location targeting and bids help determine when an ad can appear.
Use campaigns to answer questions
Advertising also creates a structured learning loop. A focused campaign can test demand, messages, locations and landing pages with a defined budget. The useful result is not only traffic; it is evidence about which searches and offers lead to qualified conversations.
Prepare measurement before launch
Set measurement before launch. Choose one primary business outcome—such as a purchase, qualified lead or booked call—and keep supporting actions secondary. Google Ads uses primary conversion actions for bidding, while secondary actions remain available for observation in the All conversions report.
Connect paid and organic activity
Paid and organic activity can work together, but one does not buy the other. Google explicitly states that advertising does not improve organic ranking. Use ads for controlled reach and faster feedback; use SEO and useful content to build durable discovery.
Account for the work around the media
A media budget does not include every cost of a campaign. Creative production, a landing page, measurement and management may need separate scope. Clarify these lines before comparing quotations or judging the return on the overall programme.
The sales process also needs capacity. A campaign cannot resolve a lack of appointments, unavailable stock or unanswered enquiries. Include those constraints in the brief so the plan reflects what the business can deliver.
Know what an early test can tell you
A short test may reveal a broken form or an unclear message quickly. It may not provide enough evidence to predict long-term acquisition cost, especially when purchases take time. Record both the observations and their limits.
Use the next review to choose a focused adjustment. If requests consistently misunderstand the service, clarify the offer. If suitable enquiries stall after contact, investigate the follow-up. More reach is valuable only when the rest of the journey supports it.
