PERFORMANCE
Clicks are a start. Conversions are the goal.
A useful campaign review starts with the action you want a customer to take.

Define the business outcome
Before choosing a channel, define what a meaningful conversion looks like for your business. It could be a qualified enquiry, a booked consultation, a phone call or a completed purchase. Google Ads supports separate conversion actions for each of these outcomes, which makes the definition a practical campaign decision rather than a reporting afterthought.
Follow the full customer journey
Track the journey beyond the click. Review the search term, ad, landing page, enquiry form and follow-up process together. A strong ad cannot compensate for an unclear offer or a slow response.
Read the measures in context
Use cost per conversion and conversion rate carefully. Google defines cost per conversion as total eligible cost divided by conversions, and conversion rate as conversions divided by eligible interactions. Neither number describes lead quality, so connect advertising data with feedback from the sales team.
Turn reporting into a decision
Use each review to answer a practical question: which change could improve the quality of the next conversation? Keep tests focused, document what changed and compare results over a meaningful period.
Use a worked example carefully
Imagine a fictional campaign with 200 visits and 10 recorded enquiries. The visit-to-enquiry rate in that example is 5%. If only three enquiries match the intended customer, that is a separate quality signal. Neither figure establishes profitability or tells you whether another channel would perform better.
Ask where the mismatch begins. The campaign may describe a broader service than the business provides, or the landing page may leave location and delivery expectations unclear. Review the actual requests before changing the bidding or creative.
Build a repeatable review habit
Choose a reporting period that gives the sales process time to develop. Record major changes, campaign interruptions and tracking problems. Comparing two periods without that context can turn an operational change into a misleading marketing conclusion.
A useful meeting ends with a small action: correct a broken conversion event, clarify a service limitation or test a more specific message. Assign an owner and carry the result into the next review.
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
